Grouper and a Social Issue.

LOOKBOOK.nu: grouper

I titled this Grouper because it's the name of my character for a monologue I'm doing in my theater II class. It's from a play titled Out of Gas on Lovers Leap by Mark St. Germain and I really like it. I've read most of the beginning of it and the end but I have some left in the middle. It's basically about this guy named, Grouper and this girl - Mystery that goes by Myst. The names alone I love. They're both pretty fucked up and this all takes place on their graduation night (from White Oaks Academy, an exclusive boarding school for students with "behavioral disorders."). His dad is a senator and her mom is a famous rock star. As I said they're both pretty screwed up. Anyways, the whole place is just them talking and fighting. And at one point they talk about what shitty people they are. Grouper, talks about what he feels most guilty of. And it's revealing his friend secret in seventh grade. His only friend. And Myst's is a little more disturbing - she saw all the attention her cousin (I believe...don't feel like checking) is getting from having got her period. And sense Myst liked the attention and love from her family...she decided to erhm, speed up the process with a razor. And when everyone finds out that "she got her period" her mom returns and spends time with her. So it continues, and sadly enough, they jump off a cliff at the end, aka: Lovers Leap.

One quick thing about world issues y'all!: Fuck this "Don't ask, Don't tell" policy. I mean, who cares. We did it with racism, (you know,)interrogated the troops, we can do it again. And what makes me more mad is the fact that if someone finds out someone is gay, they can get discharged or "honorable discharge." if they get told on. Whatever. That's just rude - they're (the gheyz) serving THEIR country while it's telling them that it's not okay to be who you they are? Or that "it is" but just don't tell anyone? DO THESE PEOPLE HAVE BRAINS? What do they think that if they tell, all of a sudden, they'll turn everyone within a few feet into raging homosexuals! Oh wait the argument is that "it's for their safety." HEY! HOMOPHOBES IN THE ARMY? GET OVER IT.
Thus I conclude !
xx y'all

Those sunnies rock! Also, I am completely with you on the don't ask don't tell policy. It is ridiculous that it is still in place. Hopefully we will see some progress soon.

that play sounds kind of sort of fantastic. I wish I took more theater and maybe singing classes, I feel like that's a part of me I never get to express (except in my bathroom singing along to who knows what, a lot of Regina Spektor because I love what she does with her voice, annnnyway).

Honestly you're completely right about the troops stuff. WhoEVER it is serving their country they deserve every bit of respect that anyone else gets. I mean, even more so if they are up against challenges within their OWN fucking "peer group". Its ridiculous. I understand the women-troop thing a bit more because of basic biological differences between men and women (not to deduce us to animals?) but SERI a man is a man. Who gives a fuck about sexual preference. There's probably a lot more rapists that are hetero as opposed to homosexual (re: the "safety" bullshit). The homophobes are probably all in the closet gays themselves or they wouldn't feel threatened.

Anyway past totally dumb rant. Love your photos. But you need me and my lovely DSLR to make you really pop :) we MUST meet asap. you graduate in June I'm guessing? Left you a bunch of dumb @s on twitter too. I'm so bored and lonely here :(

how can they discharge someone just because they're gay? that's among the stupidest things I've ever heard. They're in the army, their goal is to serve their country, it's not like they're speed dating or something. Oops, sorry, I'm straight you're gay, NEXT! What does the army have to do with someone's sexual preferences? that's not the point of an army. Okay, I'm talking too much. Oh and I love your outfits.
